Damage to your property caused directly by fire, including resulting smoke and heat damage.

Lightning

Direct lightning strikes and the resulting damage to the insured structure.

Explosion (Domestic)

Explosion for domestic purposes - courts have defined this as purposes related to the home.

Allied perils extensions

Broaden your cover

Add any combination of allied perils to tailor your policy to the risks your property faces.

Non-Domestic Explosion

Additional explosion cover beyond domestic use, including gas explosions and industrial perils.

Riot & Civil Commotion

Two levels available: fire resulting from riot, or wider cover including direct riot damage and strikers.

Malicious Damage

Extension of riot cover for deliberate damage by malicious persons - excluding empty buildings.

Storm & Flood

Storm and flood are always granted together - damage caused by windstorm, hail, or rising water.

Earthquake

Fire damage or structural damage resulting from earthquake shocks.

Escape of Water

Damage caused by water escaping from tanks, apparatus, or pipes - excluding buildings not in use.

Impact

Damage caused by collision with a vehicle or animal - including third-party vehicles.

How it works

Getting covered in 3 steps

01

Describe what you are insuring

Tell us about your home, contents, or business premises - buildings, plant, stock, and construction type.

02

Your broker tailors the cover

Your broker recommends allied perils and, for businesses, extensions such as business interruption and asset all-risks.

03

Policy confirmed

Cover activates on policy confirmation. Physical damage from covered perils is protected.

Cover starts as soon as your policy is confirmed.

Frequently Asked Questions

The standard policy covers damage caused by fire, lightning, and domestic explosion. Because this basic cover is quite narrow, most policyholders add allied perils extensions to broaden the protection.
